David (Dave) McDaniel, Jr. says, "as a member of the graduating class of 1956, I credit my later success in life on the support and encouragement I received from the faculty at Albemarle High School. Mr. Hurt and Mrs. Walton guided me to take the necessary courses to succeed in college. Although I did not attend immediately after high school, I could always hear Mrs. Walton urging me on and I think my return to college was in part to not let her down. I played football and managed several sports under Mr. Null whom I envisioned as the epitome of a coach and as I later coached Little League football and basketball I tried to portray to the teams that same “do your best” attitude."

David McDaniel, Jr. was nominated by Joe Fix, AHS Class of 1956
