HALL OF FAME
DAVID C. WYANT
ANTR 2014 - David C. Wyant from CCMC on Vimeo.
David Wyant has been a lifelong resident of Albemarle County, graduating both from Albemarle High School and the University of Virginia. He has served his county as a member of the Board of Supervisors and maintained business relationships through his job as an engineer for the Virginia Department of Highways, as a local farmer, and private business owner. He is truly interested in his community and offers a listening ear to anyone who seeks him out.
As a student at AHS, David played football and basketball for five years. He played basketball and ran track for two years. He served on the SCA and attended Boys State. He was a member of several serving as President of the Spanish Club and Vice President of the Monogram Club. In participating in these activities, David got to know many students from all classes and educational tracks. He has continued to be interested in all citizens of the community and is willing to listen to anyone. If you are a fellow AHS graduate and encounter David in your travels, you can believe that he will have fun or an inspirational story to tell about AHS former teachers, coaches and his revered Mr. Hurt.
Besides his careers, David has been officiating for 48 years for various sports from high school to college level. He worked as a National Football League referee for 23 years with his final appearance being the 2014 Super Bowl. "It's a fascinating job, and I've been lucky to be doing it for so long," he says. His tenacity and strong work ethic (his nickname is Mule for good reason) influenced those who worked for and with. His love of hometown Albemarle County is always evident no matter where life leads him. David also serves his church and his community through love in the Name of Christ, a group that helps those who cannot help themselves.
David served on the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors for the White Hall Magisterial District from 2004 to 2007. He is a professional civil engineer. David Wyant is a native of White Hall, Virginia, where his family still operates Wyant's Store. Since leaving the Board, David has been active in the effort to change the way in which country stores are handled by the County
David Clark Wyant is extremely proud of his years at Albemarle High School. Most students revel in their college careers or their lifetime professions, but David is a staunch advocate for AHS.
